Bible in a Year

This week I read most of I Samuel and some of the Psalms. Since I’m doing a chronological Bible, the Psalms are interspersed throughout the readings, depending on when they were written.

I have really enjoyed reading the Psalms in their context. This week, David did a lot of running away from Saul and hiding from Saul. The Psalms he wrote during this time make more sense when I realize what was happening in David’s life at the time. The Psalms written during this time were prayers for strength and confidence and refuge from his enemies. These are some of the reasons why David was a man after God’s own heart. He looked to God, prayed for God’s protection, praised God even in the midst of conflict.

Oh, that is such a great idea. I was going to get the Chronological Bible when this all started, but alas, the weeks got away from me. Maybe next year? 🙂
