The last 2 1/2 months have been very busy in our house. Three of us had roles in our local community theatre’s production of The Wizard of Oz. My son, Greg, was Tinman; Janelle was a munchkin; and I had 3 different “extra” roles–a tree, a Winkie (Wicked witch’s guard) and an Ozian (resident of the Emerald City). We’ve had rehearsals 3 times a week until the last 2 week, when it’s been 4-5 times a week. Yesterday was our 4th, and final, performance.
It’s been busy, but it has been a great experience. I’ve always enjoyed acting and am thrilled that 2 of my children share this love. I’ve directed my children in a couple of plays before, but have never had the pleasure of being in the same production with them.
We’re all a little tired at the moment, but I am looking forward to next year and another chance at being on the stage with my children.
Here are some photos from rehearsals:
And some from backstage, waiting for the show to begin. We performed in the local high school and used their band room as our “green room”/changing room/meeting room.
And, some from the performance! 🙂
Munchkinland. Janelle is the one in I’m the tree on the right Greg as Tinman. His nickname for
the center, dressed in red. himself was a “deranged can of Spam”
